Once upon a time, on the seashore, there lived a tiny pair of Tittibha birds—a mommy bird and a daddy bird.

When it was time for the mommy bird to lay eggs, she said,
“Dear, please find a safe place for my eggs. The sea waves here are very high.”

But the daddy bird said,
“Oh, the sea won’t harm our eggs! Just lay them right here.”

So the mommy bird agreed and laid her eggs near the sea.
But one day, when both birds flew away to find food, big, strong waves came and washed the eggs away.

The mommy bird cried,
“See! I told you this place wasn’t safe!”

The daddy bird became upset and said,
“I will teach the sea a lesson! I will dry it up!”

But the sea was huge!
So the birds called their friends—swans, peacocks, cranes, and many others.

All the birds thought together,
“Let’s go to our king, Garuda!”

Garuda was very upset when he heard this.
He went to Lord Vishnu and said,
“The sea has taken the tiny birds’ eggs! This is wrong!”

Lord Vishnu himself went to the sea and said,
“Sea! Return the eggs right now!”

The sea became frightened and returned the eggs immediately.

The mommy and daddy bird were very happy.
And everyone learned a lesson—
