The Monkey and the Little Bird Story for Kids
(A Panchatantra Tale β Do Not Give Advice Unless Asked)
Once upon a time, in a deep green forest near the mountains, a group of monkeys lived happily on tall trees. One day, heavy rain began to fall, soaking the monkeys and making them shiver with cold.
Searching for warmth, they found shiny red-and-black gunja seeds. Mistaking them for live embers, the monkeys gathered around and began blowing on them, hoping to start a fire.
High above on a tree branch, a little yellow bird watched the monkeys. She knew the seeds could never make fire.
Wanting to help, the bird flew closer and said gently, βThese are not fire embers. They are gunja seeds. Blowing on them will not give you warmth. Please find a cave or shelter instead.β
The monkeys did not like her advice. One of them frowned and said, βGo away! Stop disturbing us.β
But the little bird, still concerned, tried again to explain. Her good intentions only made the frustrated monkeys angrier.
At last, in anger, a monkey grabbed the bird and pushed her aside. Hurt and frightened, the bird flew back to safety.
The monkeys soon realized their efforts were useless. They remained cold and tired, while the little bird rested quietly on her branch, now silent.
