πŸ’ The Curious Monkey and the Wedge πŸͺ΅

(A Panchatantra Tale of Curiosity and Consequences)

Tiger and Jackal Illustration

Once upon a time, a group of carpenters were busy building a temple in a beautiful garden.

They worked every morning, and at lunchtime they stopped working and went away to eat.

One day, when the workers left, a bunch of monkeys climbed down from the trees to explore the place.

They jumped on the wood, played with the tools, and ran all around happily.

On the ground lay a big log of wood. A carpenter had started cutting it but had not finished.

To keep the cut open, he had pushed a strong wooden wedge into the gap before leaving.

One little monkey became very curious about that wedge.

He sat on the log and started pulling the wedge out with all his strength.

Monkey Pulling Wedge

The poor monkey did not know that the wedge was keeping the big log open.

With one strong pull, the wedge slipped out suddenlyβ€”

And the log snapped shut!

The little monkey’s tail got caught in the crack, and he cried out in pain, hurt because of his own curiosity.

✨ Moral of the Story

Those who interfere in someone else’s work often bring trouble upon themselves.
