π The Jackal and the Fighting Goats π¦
(A Panchatantra Tale of Greed and Danger)
Two goats were fighting fiercely on the village road. They pushed each other with their horns, kicking up dust everywhere.
As they clashed again and again, a little blood spilled onto the ground.
At that very moment, a hungry jackal happened to pass by.
He saw the blood and began licking it greedily, not caring at all about the goatsβ dangerous fight.
Nearby, a wise sage stood watching from behind a bush.
He shook his head and murmured:
βHow foolish this jackal is! Blinded by greed, he does not see the danger.β
But the jackal wanted more.
He slowly moved closerβright into the middle of the goatsβ furious battle.
SuddenlyβTHUD!
Both goats struck him at the same time.
The jackal fell with a heavy thud, wounded and groaning in pain. His greed had brought him to harm.
β¨ Moral of the Story
